Children 7 to 11 Years
Key Stage 2 includes children who are 7–11 years old (years 3–6 of the primary phase). It follows the National Curriculum, a framework designed to ensure that schools provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils, helping them to develop essential skills, knowledge and attitudes and achieve their full potential.
Assessment is an important part of the National Curriculum, and National Curriculum levels can give an indication of what an average child would be expected to achieve at various points in school. Although children develop at different rates, teachers and parents can get an idea of how well a child is doing by comparing his or her attainment with the average expectation for others of a similar age. By the end of Key Stage 2, most children will have reached level 4.
Schofield & Sims’ books for Key Stage 2 focus on maths, English and science and sell steadily throughout the year, as there is a constant demand for our products from parents, concerned about their children’s education, as well as from teachers. The number of children in education at any one time dictates that sales of educational books are going to be large. However, sales increase in September, during the ‘back to school’ rush, and during times of national tests (SATs): teacher assessments in English, maths and science are carried out towards the end of Key Stage 2, and at this time our revision guides and practice papers are an essential purchase. Stocking Schofield & Sims books makes a great deal of sense: they are inexpensive, widely trusted, recommended by parents and teachers, and above all sell well.
