Handwriting Practice Paper

Handwriting Practice Paper helps children practise their handwriting independently on thick, high-quality paper. The pages progress from shaded to standard lines, with occasional prompts and guidance, and the book can be used across age ranges. It is suited to extra practice at home or in class and is fully compatible with the Handwriting Practice series and with the handwriting schemes most commonly used in schools.

Four guide lines sit on each line of writing, helping children place every letter correctly:

• the x-height line (or midline) shows the height of small letters such as 'o' and 'v'
• the ascender line shows the height of tall letters such as 'l', 'b' and 'h'
• the base line shows where the body of letters such as 'a', 'e' and 's' sits
• the tail (descender) line shows where parts of letters such as 'y', 'j' and 'q' hang.
