My Times Tables Book

Prepare for the new Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check with our handy new times tables resource – perfect for daily maths starters or weekly homework.

It seems there is never a quiet moment in education, and this year is no exception, with the introduction of a new statutory Multiplication Tables Check in June. To help you and your pupils prepare for the assessment, we have developed My Times Tables Book, a helpful new resource designed to build fluency and confidence in times tables.

Matching the pace and coverage of the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check, My Times Tables Book contains 40 sets of times tables questions, each of which is designed to be completed in two-and-a-half minutes. A useful Multiplication Square at the back of the book means that children can mark their own answers, before recording their score in the colour-in Progress chart

The handy A5 format makes My Times Tables Book ideal for sending home in book bags. There’s even space for you to note the child’s specific learning targets in times tables, and for any adult working with the child to record the child’s progress towards meeting them. Once children are confident that they have learnt a particular table, they can tick it off on the Times Tables Checklist on the inside back cover. A supporting downloadable certificate can also be used to celebrate pupils' achievements.

The book also includes useful tips for parents and carers about how to help children to practise times tables at home, written by maths expert John Dabell. You can find more guidance on helping children to master their times tables in our ‘Six helpful strategies for learning times tables’ blog post. For further information on the check itself, this short video from the DfE provides a good overview.
