My Letters and Sounds Phonics Practice Pupil Book 9

Schofield & Sims My Letters and Sounds is a comprehensive programme for teaching systematic synthetic phonics. Aligned with Letters and Sounds, it provides everything teachers and adult helpers need to support reading and spelling with confidence.

The My Letters and Sounds Phase Six Phonics Practice Pupil Books can be used in conjunction with the My Letters and Sounds Phase Six Teacher's Guide to help support and embed learning. Suitable for use in school or at home, they give pupils the opportunity to apply and practise their phonic knowledge and skills. Both books follow the same progression as the original 2007 Letters and Sounds and can also be used alongside other incremental phonics programmes.

Phonics Practice Pupil Book 9 reinforces Phase Six of My Letters and Sounds. In Phase Six, pupils consolidate their reading strategies and apply phonic knowledge through independent reading, working towards fluency across fiction and non-fiction texts. They also develop and apply spelling strategies and rules in their own writing. In this book, pupils develop spelling strategies for words with long vowel sounds and explore common word endings and their effect on the base word, using short stories as context. A reading assessment and spelling assessment at the end of the book support progress tracking and identification of any gaps.
